How earning works

01

02
Approve requests
Renters are ID-verified before they can book. You approve each request and agree a pickup time.
03
Get paid
Payment is held securely by Stripe and released to you after the renter collects. A refundable deposit is also held on the renter’s card as protection against damage.

Questions, answered

How much can I earn?
It depends on the item and demand, but Sydney locals commonly charge $30 to $120 a day. A camera kit listed two weekends a month can earn $400+ a month.
Is my gear protected?
Every renter completes a government-ID check (via Stripe Identity) before booking, and a refundable security deposit is held on their card. If gear comes back damaged, that deposit is there to cover it. nearme isn’t an insurer — your protection is the ID check plus the deposit — so we recommend photographing items at pickup and return.
How do I get paid?
Payments run through Stripe. The renter pays upfront, the money is held in escrow, and your payout is released after the item is collected.
What can I list?
Cameras, tools, camping and water gear, electronics, instruments, sports equipment. Anything useful that is sitting idle and safe to lend.
Is it free to list?
Yes, listing is completely free. nearme only takes a small service fee when you actually earn from a rental.
