How hiring works

Pick your dates

Every listing shows a live calendar with real prices by the day and week. Request the dates you want; your card is only charged if the owner says yes.

Meet a local

Arrange pickup in messages: the beach, a cafe, their street. The exact address is shared once your booking is confirmed, never before.

Photograph the handover

Both sides take condition photos at pickup and return, built into the booking. It protects you exactly as much as it protects the owner.

Hand it back

Return it as you found it and nothing more is ever charged. The owner confirms the return and the booking closes.

Surfboard hire questions

Do I need to pay a bond to hire a surfboard?

No. Nothing is held on your card as a bond. You agree at booking that if the board is not returned or comes back damaged beyond normal wear, you can be charged up to the damage liability shown on the listing. Nothing is charged when it comes back fine, and normal wear and tear is never charged.

How does pickup work in Bondi?

You book online, the owner accepts, and then you arrange a meeting spot in messages: the beach, a cafe, their street. Listings show the suburb only; the exact address is shared once your booking is confirmed.

Can I hire a board for just one day?

Yes. Every board has a per-day price, and most also have a weekly rate that works out cheaper for longer trips. You pick your dates on the listing and pay by card.

What happens if I ding the board?

Both sides photograph the board at handover and at return, so condition is a matter of record rather than argument. Small wear from normal use is never charged. Real damage goes through a documented process with a capped amount that you saw before you booked.

Why do I need an ID check?

Every renter passes a government ID check with a document and a live selfie before their first booking. It is what makes owners comfortable lending good boards to people they have not met, and you only do it once.

When am I actually charged?

Your card is authorised when you request the dates and only charged once the owner accepts. If they decline or do not answer, the hold is released and you were never charged.

Got a board gathering dust?

Listing is free and you keep 85% of every completed hire. Your address is never shown, and every renter is ID checked before they can book.
